A typical day.
We harvest our certified organic produce daily, and volunteers transport cleaned, bagged produce in their own vehicles to local food relief organizations in the area, predominantly Table in Carrboro and Farmer Food Share in Durham, NC.
On an average day at the farm, produce is harvested from 8:00-11:00am. Around 11:00am, the produce is cleaned up, weighed, boxed and loaded into volunteers vehicles. It arrives at the food relief warehouse by noon, is packed into outgoing boxes, and is on the road by 12:30. Food recipients receive boxes of freshly picked food with our organic produce by early afternoon. The turnaround time is a matter of hours, where as most produce in local food stores is 3-4 days or up to a week old.
